SHAM ELECTION

On 28 Dec 2025, the illegal military junta will conduct a sham election in an attempt to legitimize its illegal and repressive regime. Conducted over three phases from Dec 2025 – Feb 2026, the military has banned most political parties, increased airstrikes to retake territory and force civilians into military-controlled towns, and cracked down on all dissent, including through their repressive Election Protection Law, to prevent all resistance to the sham polls. The international community must unequivocally rejection the election and any resulting oppressive institutions, laws, or policies.
